Seven days after the commencement of the Russian counteroffensive aimed at regaining control over territories in Kursk, the occupiers suffered "staggering losses," primarily due to inadequate reconnaissance and a lack of information regarding the positioning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is reported by Forbes analyst David Axe.

It is noted that the Russian military managed to "recapture" the village of Pogrebki, located at the northern edge of the operation; however, this provides "little consolation," considering the loss of hundreds of Russians during unsuccessful attacks on other sections of the front.

According to the analyst, the Russians face a dual problem. Firstly, despite the abundance of roads leading to Ukrainian-controlled territory from the north and west, the Russians continue to advance along these routes daily, despite previous failures. Secondly, it remains unclear whether the commanders of their troops are receiving accurate information about the deployment of Ukrainian forces in this area. Consequently, it can be said that Russian attacks are both predictable and uncoordinated.

Reports indicate that the commanders of the Marine Corps assured their superiors that Russian troops fully controlled the road through Pogrebki. Following this, the General Staff issued an order to storm the settlement. However, as noted by Russian blogger Romanov, the Russians did not have control over the road—Ukrainian minefields remained there, which had not been cleared by the Russian 810th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment.

“Overall, the deliberate misinformation from the General Staff by the command of the 810th Brigade has become a common practice,” said Romanov, emphasizing that this issue is persistent within this brigade.

It is said that commanders of Russian troops in the Kursk region are preparing their units for tragic failures by providing inaccurate information to their subordinates.

“This does not mean that the Russians are losing in Kursk. It means that they are likely to suffer catastrophic losses, regardless of the final outcome of the battle,” the article notes.

The main advantage of Russia is its large numbers. Estimates suggest that there are about 50,000 military personnel from Russia and North Korea in the area, while only 20,000 to 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers are present. It appears that the Kremlin has prioritized the return of the Kursk region and is willing to risk the lives of its soldiers, investing thousands of human lives in this endeavor.

It should be noted that Russia is deploying new units to Kursk to resume offensive actions. The Russians are transferring combat-ready units to the Kursk region to renew their offensive operations.
