The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has initiated significant changes in the system of support for military personnel during their treatment and rehabilitation. This was reported by the press service of the agency on Saturday, November 16.

Currently, the mechanism for providing enhanced nutrition to servicemen in healthcare facilities of all ownership forms has been improved.

The government-approved resolution allows for the provision of meals to defenders based on the standards of military medical facilities in NATO countries, even in civilian hospitals.

"Every defender who risks their life for our freedom deserves the best conditions for recovery. We not only provide our military with the necessary care but also work to ensure that each of them feels support and respect. This initiative is our response to their selflessness and courage," noted Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Sergey Melnik.

According to the new regulations, meals in civilian hospitals for military personnel will follow a specially designed menu, which, among other things, specifies the list of products, their quantity, and weight required for one serviceman per day, taking into account the specific needs of the body during recovery.

"The new regulations ensure a full diet necessary for a quick recovery of health. For example, they account for the increased need for proteins, vitamins, and calories required for the treatment of injuries or illnesses. The cost calculation for such meals is based on a special Product Catalog approved by the Ministry of Defense," explains Melnik.

The government resolution also provides a clear mechanism for compensating expenses to civilian medical institutions, which will help maintain high service standards.

The new funding mechanism involves signing a standard contract that ensures transparent compensation for the costs of enhanced nutrition. Yes, civilian medical institutions will receive adequate funding.

We remind you that the Ministry of Defense has established requirements for the caloric content of basic products supplied for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported on a scandal that arose due to inedible canned goods for the Armed Forces. Journalists found out that a batch of canned pork, intended for the Armed Forces, turned out to be unfit for consumption, consisting of a mixture of skin, tendons, and fatty tissue.
