Benefits for combat veterans in 2025: what’s included and how to obtain the combat veteran status.

With the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the number of individuals granted the status of combatant (УБД) has increased. This status provides military personnel and other categories of defenders with various benefits and social guarantees. What privileges are available in 2025 and how to obtain the УБД status are discussed below. This information is reported by UNIAN.

What benefits are provided for УБД in 2025?

In February 2025, the benefits for combatants will remain unchanged. Specifically, Ukrainians with УБД status and their families will be able to take advantage of a 70% discount on utility bills, rent, and boiler fuel. In cases of disability resulting from military service, the state will fully reimburse utility expenses.

Additionally, УБД status holders are entitled to free public transportation, access to free prescription medications, medical care in state institutions, and sanatorium-resort treatment. They may also expect tax concessions.

Among the additional payments for combatants is financial support for sports activities. Each УБД can receive 1500 hryvnias for physical activity once every 90 days.

How to obtain УБД status?

Ukraine has an automatic system for assigning УБД status, which significantly simplifies the application process.

After a military personnel completes a combat order or official task, the relevant information is entered into the Unified State Register of Veterans. This is carried out by representatives of the military unit where the service member is stationed. The processing of this information takes up to five days. The status can be verified in the "Дія" app by adding an electronic certificate.

It is important to note that, according to the government resolution "On the Provision of УБД Status," Ukraine has not yet established a minimum number of days spent in a combat zone for obtaining this status.
