The icebreaker Noosphere has arrived at the Akademik Vernadsky station.

 

The Ukrainian research vessel Noosphere has arrived at the Antarctic station "Akademik Vernadsky." This was reported by the National Antarctic Scientific Center on Facebook on Sunday, January 5.   This marks the first arrival of the vessel at the Ukrainian station during the fourth Antarctic season, with several more planned in total.   "The route to the station successfully avoided all cyclones, and even the Drake Passage was not too turbulent this time, with maximum wave heights reaching 3-4 meters," noted Captain Pavel Panasyuk.   The ship delivered a technical team that will carry out urgent modernization work at the station, which had been initiated prior to the full-scale invasion.

    In particular, this season will see the replacement of the sewage system and lighting fixtures, as well as the expansion of the meteorological research area.   Currently, the unloading of the vessel is underway, after which it will head to the Chilean port of Punta Arenas to continue its Antarctic mission.   Previously, it was reported that the Ukrainian icebreaker Noosphere has entered its fourth Antarctic season.
