The Federal Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, believes that the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, is highly motivated to improve the situation and put an end to the war in Ukraine. He stated this in an interview with the TV channel
PULS 24. While discussing his phone call with Trump, Nehammer said: "But then the conversation quickly shifted to the topic of the Russo-Ukrainian war. He (Trump – ed.) asked me for my assessment, as I am one of the few who has actually met both Zelensky and Putin. He specifically inquired about this series of meetings and how I evaluate the current developments in the war. He shared his perspective, and we swiftly reached the discussion of how crucial peace and an end to the war are. I also suggested Austria as a suitable place for negotiations, as we are a member of the EU while remaining a neutral country, and this neutrality can be utilized effectively." According to the Austrian Chancellor, Trump exhibited a strong motivation for the situation to improve and for the war to cease. "My impression was that he is very emotionally, in a positive sense, invested in ending the war. We discussed the loss of life in Ukraine, both military and civilian, and he is highly motivated to see changes for the better and for the guns to fall silent. Therefore, I believe he will propose certain initiatives," Nehammer commented on his impression regarding whether Trump would reduce military support for Ukraine. At the same time, the head of the Austrian government emphasized that "any peace is only possible with Ukraine." "The conversation was not so detailed, and such discussions cannot be held right now because, of course, any peace is only possible with Ukraine's participation," Nehammer commented on the possibility of ending the war if Ukraine were to give up part of its territories in exchange for the cessation of arms supplies. Nehammer noted that Donald Trump was well-prepared for the conversation and immediately raised the issue of the war between Russia and Ukraine. "And this indicates his interest. I believe he is indeed capable of developing a new dynamic, and you can see this from the reaction of the international community," he added. The Austrian Chancellor also expressed the view that the elected U.S. President's desire to end the war between Russia and Ukraine demonstrates "movement towards what we all truly want." "The crucial factor here, of course, is that this must also align with Ukraine's interests," Nehammer added. Let us remind you that on Wednesday,
Trump chose the candidacy of retired General Keith Kellogg as his special representative for resolving the war between Russia and Ukraine.
