The winner of the Ukrainian cooking show "MasterChef," Yevhen Khlopotenko, recommends experimenting with dough and making muffins at home, which can serve as an excellent dessert, even if you’re not a professional chef.
For the muffins, you only need flour, eggs, and sour cream. This simple yet incredibly delicious treat creates a cozy atmosphere, says "MasterChef" Khlopotenko.
Ingredients:
- 360 g flour
- 10 g baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 200 g sugar
- 10 g vanilla sugar
- 1 cup sour cream (approximately 250 g)
- 1 orange (zest and juice)
- Juice of lemon – to taste
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Pinch of salt
Preparation:
In a deep bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla sugar. At this stage, add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor, advises "MasterChef" Khlopotenko.
Once the mixture is smooth, add the sour cream, which will give the dough a light, soft texture.
Grate the orange zest and incorporate it into the mixture. Next, as noted by "MasterChef" Khlopotenko, sift the flour with the baking powder and gently mix it with the other ingredients.
Fill the muffin tin two-thirds full and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes. While the muffins are baking, prepare the glaze: squeeze the juice from half an orange and mix it with the powdered sugar. Stir until you achieve a uniform mixture.
You can check the muffins' readiness with a toothpick, as "MasterChef" Khlopotenko demonstrates in the video – it should come out clean without traces of batter. After baking, wait for the muffins to cool before covering them with the sugar glaze.
