The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff confirmed a strike on the Lukoil oil refinery in Russia.

On the night of January 29, 2025, units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in collaboration with other components of the Defense Forces, successfully struck the Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery in the Russian city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This oil refinery is a crucial element of the infrastructure that supplies resources to the occupying forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. The refinery processes petroleum products that are used to supply fuel and lubricants for Russian troops engaged in an aggressive war against Ukraine.

As a result of the drone attack, a massive fire broke out on the premises of the facility. Intense flames were reported at the scene, and the oil refinery sustained significant damage.

The extent of the damage and the consequences of the strike are currently being assessed.

It is worth noting that the GUR drones attacked the "Lukoil" oil depot in the Russian Federation. On the night of January 29, Ukrainian GUR drones targeted the "Lukoil" oil depot in Kstovo, causing severe destruction.
