Starting in January, Germany will implement a 30% reduction in benefits for employable refugees who refuse advantageous offers. Currently, the Bürgergeld assistance amounts to €563 for adults, €471 for teenagers, and €357 for children under 12 years old. This decision will affect 700,000 individuals. Additionally, there may be further changes after the parliamentary elections in February.
United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, Ukrainians will be able to apply for a visa extension for another 18 months starting from February 4, 2025. Applications must be submitted at least 28 days before the current visa expires. However, the time spent in the country under refugee status will not count towards the 10-year period required for permanent residency eligibility.

Poland will introduce the CUKR card, which will allow legal residence and work for three years. It can be obtained by Ukrainians with Pesel UKR status, active as of March 4, 2024. The card grants the right to leave Poland for up to six months. In Lithuania, free public transport will be extended until the end of 2025, and temporary protection will remain in effect until March 2026. In Latvia, the one-time crisis assistance has been increased to €377 for adults and €264 for children, and the temporary residence permit duration has been extended to three years.
Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is introducing a new type of long-term residence permit for up to five years with the right to work. Those who have worked in the Czech Republic for the past two years and meet financial requirements can apply. In Slovakia, the stay duration in reception centers will be reduced from 120 to 60 days, and living allowances will only be available during the first 60 days after arrival.
Ireland
In Ireland, newly arrived Ukrainians will no longer be able to receive free housing starting March 2025, as the government will encourage self-sufficiency. In Norway, the rules for residents from western regions of Ukraine will change, with applications being considered individually, and assistance for those living outside reception centers will be discontinued. Additionally, youth aged 19-24 must reside in the country for at least five years to qualify for free dental care.
