The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has signed a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to revoke state awards from individuals who have committed treason against Ukraine. The initial list includes 34 individuals, among them former officials, members of parliament, high-ranking law enforcement officers, as well as artists and public figures from Russia who actively support the aggressive policies of the Kremlin. This information is reported by the President's Office.
These individuals are stripped of their awards indefinitely, highlighting the seriousness of their violations of duties to the state. For ten of them, the maximum set of sanctions has been applied, which includes 21 types of restrictions. In addition to the revocation of awards, traitors are subjected to asset blocking, revocation of licenses and permits, as well as termination of trade operations.
Among the most notable figures on the list is Oleksandr Yefremov, the former first deputy leader of the Party of Regions and head of the corresponding faction in parliament. Yefremov held orders of "For Merits" of I-III degrees and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of V degree.
Other former high-ranking officials affected by the sanctions include Renat Kuzmin, the ex-deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, who held orders of "For Merits" of II-III degrees and the title of "Honored Lawyer of Ukraine," as well as Viktor Medvedchuk, a former member of parliament and pro-Russian politician, who held orders of "For Merits" of I-III degrees and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of V degree.
The list also includes Russian figures, such as Patriarch Kirill, who received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of I degree for supporting Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Additionally, several well-known Russian artists, such as Nikolai Baskov, Philip Kirkorov, Alexander Malinin, Igor Krutoy, as well as singers Ani Lorak and Taissia Povaliy, who actively support the aggressor and justify the occupation of Ukraine, have been stripped of Ukrainian state awards.
This decree is a result of Law No. 11410, initiated by the President of Ukraine and adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. The law provides for the revocation of state awards from individuals who have committed serious crimes, particularly against Ukraine's national security and international order, as well as those who promote the aggressor's policies or justify the occupation of part of Ukrainian territory.
These actions are part of broader efforts by Ukraine on the international stage to condemn Russia's aggression and ensure justice for those who have committed treason against Ukraine.
We remind you that the Russians struck Sumy: two dead, 12 injured. Last night, the Russians attacked a residential neighborhood in the city of Sumy with "Shahed" drones. In addition to the two fatalities, 12 people were injured.
