In the village of Hora near Kyiv, something inappropriately grandiose has been unexpectedly proposed. The chairman of the local council, Roman Dmitriev, laid out a working project for a new school, with a price tag of one billion hryvnias. Yes, you heard that right.

"This is not a sketch of the National Concert Hall. Nor is it the design of a Microsoft office. It’s not even the premises of the University of the Future. She shared images of what this ultra-modern school will look like. The design cost 3 million hryvnias, which was funded by the community itself.

Interestingly, in Hora, which has a population of just 7,000, lives a rather affluent community – a new elite has settled here: officials, tax inspectors, prosecutors, judges... Meanwhile, local farmers are gradually leaving their homes, which are being replaced by real palaces.
