A draft law No. 12172 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which strengthens the responsibility of drivers for violating traffic rules. The initiative, led by Serhiy Ionushas, proposes amendments to Article 122 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

SubscribeIn particular, according to the new amendments, for repeated violations of pedestrian crossing rules, intersections, or passing a red traffic light within a year, drivers will be required to pay a fine of 1020 hryvnias, writes the Judicial and Legal Publication.
However, if a driver violates these rules twice within a year, they will face a harsher penalty: a fine of 2550 hryvnias and a suspension of their driving rights for a period of six months to one year.
The draft law also stipulates that in such cases, drivers cannot be issued a mere verbal warning, as is currently the case. Offenders will be required to pay the fine or face other sanctions.

If a case involves the revocation of a driver's license, decisions will be made by the courts.
